Primer premio concurso Tapas Berenjena de Almagro.
Ganadores del II Muestra Gastronomica Berenjena de Almagro.
El jurado, presidido por la catedrática de Tecnología de los Alimentos María Dolores Cabezudo, ha otorgado el primer premio a la tapa elaborada por el restaurante Adolfo, de Toledo; el segundo ha recaído en el Parador Nacional de Almagro y el tercero ha sido para el restaurante Los Menchero, de Bolaños de Calatrava.
Los otros seis restaurantes participantes son la Taberna del Alabardero, de Sevilla; El Bohío, de Illescas (Toledo); Palacio de la Serna, de Ballesteros de Calatrava; Abrasador, de Almagro; Urrechu, de Madrid, y la Escuela de Hostelería de la EFA La Serna, de Bolaños de Calatrava.
La consejera de Agricultura, Mercedes Gómez, destacó ayer en Almagro que el esfuerzo de los agricultores y empresarios del Campo de Calatrava y el apoyo que han recibido desde el Gobierno de Castilla-La Mancha al otorgarle una Indicación Geográfica Protegida (IGP) ha hecho que la berenjena de Almagro tenga cada vez una mayor proyección.
Mercedes Gómez, que ha participado en la entrega de premios de la II Muestra Gastronómica organizada por la Asociación para la Promoción de la Indicación Geográfica de este producto, ha señalado que la berenjena de Almagro se ha convertido en un cultivo importante que es ya una alternativa a otros productos tradicionales del Campo de Calatrava.
Esta aseveración se constata, según la consejera, con cifras como la facturación de las cinco empresas elaboradoras, que asciende a ocho millones y medio de euros. En la comarca hay treinta y cuatro agricultores que cultivan berenjenas en una superficie total de sesenta hectáreas.
Mercedes Gómez hacía estas consideraciones en la clausura del acto de entrega de premios de un concurso de tapas que tienen como producto básico la berenjena de Almagro. La consejera ha felicitado a la Indicación Geográfica por la organización de este certamen gastronómico y ha agradecido la participación de los nueve restaurantes inscritos y su capacidad para “innovar con un producto único como la berenjena de Almagro, alimento que, según Mercedes Gómez, merece contar con platos únicos”.
